HOW IT WORKS
The Bartenders Benevolent Fund announces every Monday at 5 pm EST the amount of funding available and the amount of applications it will review that week. This announcement will happen weekly on our Facebook and Instagram accounts.
Applications open Tuesdays at 12pm EST. Deadlines for submissions are Tuesday at 11pm EST or when the maximum amount of applications is reached.
1APPLY
ONLINEFill out the online Application Form, including all requested supporting material, and submit on Tuesdays. You will receive a confirmation email upon submission (check your junk mail!)
2APPLICATIONS REVIEWED
Our Funding Officer confirms all applicant details, removes identifying information and shares them to the Disbursement Panels by Thursday.
3RECIPIENTS NOTIFIED
Each claim is independently reviewed, and those at the most risk or in need are allocated funds, and all applicants are notified by email on Sunday.
4FUNDS
DISPERSEDSuccessful applicants will need to provide a valid Social Insurance Number for tax purposes, and banking information within 48 hours (Tuesday), with payments run by the end of the week.
FUNDING
Our goal is to support hospitality industry professionals at times of need. Funds are available in quantities of $100, $250 and $500 and are granted based on particular selection criteria. Applicants are entitled to awards totalling a maximum of $500 per month.
Our funds are raised through a variety of sources, from individual donations, brand sponsorship and fundraising initiatives.
WHO CAN APPLY
Applications are open to all front of house and back of house hospitality professionals across Canada. If you have held employment in a licensed establishment on or after January 1, 2020 and have proof of employment and a valid SIN, you are eligible.
WHAT IS THE PROCESS
After submitting your application, our Funding Officer will confirm your identity, employment history and past funds awarded. Following confirmation, your application will have all identifying information removed and it will be shared to our selection panel for review.

EMERGENCY RELIEF FUND
In March of 2020, as the Canadian hospitality industry shut down to protect us all against the pandemic, the Bartenders Benevolent Fund worked to expand it's capabilities, to reach professionals across Canada.
In April, weekly applications for the COVID-19 Support Fund opened to bartenders, servers and FOH support staff in need, with eligibility expanding to BOH and salaried employees in June.
