- SUPPORTING THE COMMUNITY IN TIMES OF NEED.
HOSPITALITY WORKERS MENTAL HEALTH FUND
Hospitality Workers Mental Health Fund is offered by BBF in partnership with the ADLER Centre.
The Hospitality Workers Mental Health Fund was created to assist hospitality professionals who are struggling with a range of issues such as loneliness, depression, anxiety, uncertainty or hopelessness.
Therapy can be beneficial to help find some clarity, or just to have someone to talk to. Maintaining good mental health is important, now more than ever.
The fund is designed to support applicants in covering the cost of counselling sessions.
Applications to the Hospitality Workers Mental Health Fund are accepted monthly between the 15th to the 14th of the following month. You will require proof of employment and a valid SIN.
Successful applicants will be awarded sessions through the ADLER Centre, who will contact you to setup an intake session.
The ADLER Centre is housed in the ADLER Graduate Professional School, located in Midtown Toronto. This private school has been offering professional graduate-level education since 1978.
The ADLER Centre was established by the school to offer services that improve mental health and quality of life. The Centre provides compassionate, proficient mental health services in a learning environment.
Some services may be provided by a student, in a Master of Psychology degree program, under the supervision of a member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
___________________________
If you require urgent mental health support, please contact 911 or go to your nearest hospital emergency room for immediate assistance.
Please note that each individual seeking mental health services is evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the Adler Centre. Should the particular needs exceed what the Centre provides, they may refer to external support options. It's important to note that these external services may not be covered under the Hospitality Workers Mental Health Fund. Additionally, please be aware that if the allocated funds for subsidies are depleted, the Adler Centre may no longer be able to offer financial assistance for these services.

WHO DECIDES HOW THE APPLICATIONS ARE PROCESSED?
Applications are reviewed following a process defined by our Board of Directors centred around protecting the privacy of those applying for support, and removing barriers to application. Applications go directly to our Funding Officer who verifies details, then either removes identifying information and shares them to the appropriate Disbursement or Review Panel, or processes the qualifying applications. Our panels are comprised of current and former industry professionals.
HOW DO YOU ENSURE MY INFORMATION REMAINS PRIVATE?
The Bartenders Benevolent Fund and its volunteers will at all times respect the confidentiality of the Personal Information placed in its care. The Fund will endeavour to ensure that the policies affecting the collection, storage and disclosure of Personal Information reflect the confidential nature of the information. Our Privacy Policy ensures your personal details remain as such. All applications are verified and then redacted by our Funding Officer before applications are reviewed by their respective panels. The redacted information is only accessible by our Funding Officer and Executive Director. Our Privacy Policy extends to all email, social, verbal and written correspondence.
WILL I BE TAXED ON MY EMERGENCY RELIEF FUND AWARD?
This award will class as taxable income, meaning that it will combine with your other annual income to provide a total number on which you will be required to pay tax. So, in rare instances, this award has the potential to put your income into a higher tax bracket. We ask for a SIN from each successful applicant for audit purposes.
